Announcing! our New Discussion Board,
where you can nominate a new famous Canadian or debate an old one.

Douglas Coupland

is the voice of "Generation X".  Not only did he coin the term, but as fellow Canadian William Gibson writes cyberpunk novels, Douglas Coupland writes about readers of cyberpunk novels, and compu-slaves; and as it is with Gibson, he was the first (not counting Canadian media theory pioneer Marshal McLuan) to do so.  His views on modern society in the so called information age remains fresh because it doesn't take itself, or anything else too seriously.  Like Gibson, Coupland's criticism of our overly tech-addicted, dysfunctional world is right to the point, and the consistency of his material puts him head and shoulders above the multitudes who ride the social-theory bandwagon.
