| is the Quebec film star who won a best actress Genie Award for her lead role in Denis Villeneuve's "Maelstrom", which also won for best Film, and best Director in 2000. Marie-Josée also starred in several TV series, including "The Hunger", and made-for-cable movies, and she played Mara in the mega-flop, "Battlefield Earth". This minor moment aside, the real future seems bright for the 30-year-old ingénue, who has just signed on as the lead in Karim Hussain's "Ascension", another film, which like "Maelstrom", should establish her as a serious actor's actor. Who knows... There may be an Oscar on the horizon... |  |
