Glenn Gould

was born in a musical family, one of his mother's grandfather's first cousin was Edvard Grieg, his mother an accomplished pianist, and organist, and his father, a violinist. Young music prodigy Glenn Gould made his way through school learning, and questioning conventions in classical music, all the while developing a focused approach to composition and performance.  after many impressive concerts, the reclusive and introspective Glenn decided to retire from the public spotlight; he was 32 years old.  He is perhaps best known for his recording of Bach's "Goldberg Variations", a work which he re-recorded in 1981, and released to critical acclaim.  Glenn Gould is Canada's
most accomplished musical genius.
