Lorne Greene

was a student in Chemical Engineering at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, before he decided to work in the theater.  This career move led him to become the "Voice of Canada" on CBC Radio before he would serve as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW2. Another one of Lorne's achievements in radio broadcasting was the invention of a reverse chronometer that would help announcers countdown during broadcasts. When Television became the medium of choice, Lorne Greene's first fictional characterization was that of "Big Brother" in a production of George Orwell's 1984.  Lorne Greene is best known for his portrayal of Ben Cartwright in the TV series "Bonanza", as well as Commander Adama in the 70s cult sci-fi series "Battlestar Galactica"; he also has many motion picture credits to his name, as well as a few album releases where Lorne's deep booming voice can be heard over Country and Western themed orchestral pieces.
