William Gibson

is the Nebula, and Hugo award winning author of seminal "cyberpunk" novels responsible for "Neuromancer", "Mona Lisa Overdrive", "Virtual Light", and "The Difference Engine", which he co-authored with Bruce Sterling.  "Johnny Mnemonic"; a short story published in his "Burning Chrome" anthology, was made into a major motion picture starring Keanu Reeves. Other William Gibson stories adapted for the big screen include "New Rose Hotel", and the highly anticipated "Neuromancer".
