Phil Hartman

is the former graphic designer (album covers for Crosby Stills Nash & Young etc.) turned comic actor who made us laugh with his comic genius. As a kid, Phil and his friend had devised a secret "coded" language they would use to get away with swearing around adults, as an adult, Phil invented characters that would also talk in a code all their own,  from "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer", to the monosyllabic "Frankenstein" on "Saturday Night Live", to the voice of cartoon actor "Troy McLure" on "The Simpsons", Phil Hartman's repertory was indicative of the man's inventive mind.  In the summer of 1998 Phil Hartman was found dead in his home,  shot by his mentally troubled wife Brynn, in a case of murder-suicide.
