Richie Hawtin

is considered by many to be Canada's most influential techno artist. His Plastikman records and legendary DJ sets have earned him respect from the Detroit originators of the genre, and the very competitive European scene. Richie has had a long relationship with the Detroit techno scene, having founded "Plus 8" records with his friend DJ John Acquaviva back in the late 1980s. It is interesting to note that the world has been paying more and more attention to Canadian electronica producers over the past few years, perhaps the quality of the material has to do with the long winters which keep the producers holed up in their studios as opposed to being out partying; who knows...
