Rush |
||
| have had a huge impact on the 70's rock scene. In an age where American rockers like Van Halen and Aerosmith ruled the airwaves, and Canadian bands were often relegated to being cover acts in various bars, Rush, themselves having been born in that climate, took the road less traveled, and created their very own blend of American flavored, British minded progressive rock, eschewing the prescribed styles of the age. Nothing about this band was clichéd, Neil Peart, the drummer, wrote lyrics, Geddy Lee, the singer and bassist, also played keyboards, and Alex Lifeson, the guitarist, always seemed to find the perfect balance between prog pyrotechnics, and rock energy. | ![]() |
